PLASTICS AND RUBBER TECHNOLOGIST (m/f/d)
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Plastics and rubber technologists work in companies that process these two materials. Depending on the specialisation, there are different companies that focus on different skills. In the future, you will be responsible for operating machines, monitoring them and preparing material mixtures according to specifications. s the name suggests, plastics and rubber technologists mainly work with the two materials plastic and rubber. What exactly is produced depends largely on the respective specialisation in one of seven fields.
In your day-to-day work, you will produce material mixtures for the respective component, including auxiliary materials such as plasticisers or colourants. Depending on the product, a mixture can look very individual. Technical drawings will help you plan the work steps in the respective process. Various tools and machines are available for processing, and it is particularly important to learn how to use them properly during your training. The machines must be adjusted and monitored during the entire manufacturing process. This consists of melting and mixing, as well as pressing the components. This is followed by manual finishing, quality inspection and packaging of the parts for storage and transport.

WHAT OUR TRAINEES SAY
“I completed my apprenticeship in August 2018 as a process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology for molded parts. The “set-up” on an injection molding machine is what I enjoy most, as I make the plastic product parts from various injection molding tools.
What I like about my position as shift supervisor is that I keep production running and ensure that there are no disruptions. I have been working for HAN since August 2018 and am still motivated to provide my services for the company.”
Ömer K. Shift supervisor, plastics and rubber technologist
“Hi, I’m Eric and I started my apprenticeship as a process mechanic at HAN in August 2023. What inspires me about our products is that there are so many that look very good and are also very practical.”
